On Thursday, April 16, 2015 Advocis will be holding its Legislature Day in Victoria. Legislature Days are an important part of our government relations strategy. They provide financial advisors the opportunity to discuss with their MLA the key issues that matter most to them, their business and their clients. Your participation is vital to make it a success.

Meeting with several MLAs is particularly important in an environment in which regulators are contemplating the banning of embedded commissions. Politicians need to know that Advocis has an alternative approach, one that will secure both our future and that of our clients. The launch of our PwC Report Sound Advice will provide a great deal of information to MLAs on the value of financial advice, and the economic footprint of the financial advice industry in British Columbia.

This year’s Legislature Day will incorporate a series of meetings throughout the day that Advocis members set up with their MLAs in advance. The day will include an MLA luncheon reception at the Hotel Grand Pacific, Pender Island Ballroom (463 Belleville Street, Victoria), where Advocis members can continue the day’s discussions with MLAs in a more relaxed setting. We will also have the opportunity to sit in the legislature gallery and be recognized in the Chamber during Question Period.

Advocis will ensure you are sufficiently prepared for your MLA meeting. We will provide you with key messages and a leave-behind document, which will also be presented at our breakfast briefing session on the morning of April 16th at the Hotel Grand Pacific. Every MLA will be invited to our lunch reception, so if you can’t secure a meeting you can connect with your MLA during the reception.

To assist those coming from out of town, we have booked a block of rooms at the Hotel Grand Pacific. Parking will be covered for all participants.
